Today, there is an app, website, or software platform for just about anything (including finding someone to walk your dog). But when it comes to aligning your leadership team on your most important priorities as you consider growth or exit, there is one system I can't live without.

The Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) from Traction.
And here's why...
Reason 1: The Vision Component
The Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO) forces us to confront the cultural foundations and strategic intent of our business before moving on to the tactical day-to-day elements.
Reason 2: The Data Component
I'm always amazed at the issues that we can solve when we know what our scorecard is actually predicting. When everyone has a number that they are responsible for tracking, the reporting gets much cleaner, and we can get to the bottom of what is driving success or failure. This is very similar to Alan Mullally’s approach when turning around Ford Motor Company. And it works.
Reason 3: The People Component
If you believe as Jim Collins does in good to great that one of the keys to success is getting the right people on the bus and getting them in the right seats, the people component gives you practical ways of accomplishing this. It takes the subjectivity out of evaluation and allows you to see where people are struggling or thriving.
Reason 4: The Issues Component
I always say that mediocre companies “solve” the same problems repeatedly, while great companies solve new and better problems. What has allowed us to generally fall in this second category has been the issues solving track inside of EOS.
Reason 5: The Process Component
If you have read the book “E-Myth Revisited”, just imagine putting it into practice in your business, and you understand the process component. But having a system by which you do everything in your business, far from being a hindrance to creativity, actually frees you up to devote your creativity to that which systems cannot invent.
Reason 6: The Traction Component
The prescribed rhythm of meetings, as well as who is in the meetings and who is not, is a virtual guarantee to get stuff done. Within this rhythm, you get frameworks for holding amazing meetings where issues actually get solved.
Bonus resource!
To bring all EOS tools together, we have been using a web-based software called MyNinety, available at ninety.io, and it has made our implementation of EOS virtually fool-proof.
If you want to align your leadership team on your company’s most important priorities, I can't recommend using EOS strongly enough.
